Volcanic Heart stocks Titanium, internally threaded jewelry and Borosillicate or Quartz Glass for initial piercings. We offer many styles from some of the superior jewelry companies in the industry. While there are limitations on the jewelry you can wear initially, we also stock a large selection of jewelry for healed piercings and an impressive collection of plugs and hanging designs for stretched earlobe piercings. Please come in for a look as the stock rotates often. We can also do a special order for a product if you don't see it in stock.
Titanium Jewelry is important to initial piercings because Titanium is implant grade material (ASTM F136 6Al-4V ELI), which means you cannot have a reaction to the jewelry. Sub standard metals can cause irritation, skin discoloration and rejection. This does not mean that Steel is not acceptable for piercings, we do stock some ASTM F-138 316LVM steel in our case of jewelry for healed piercings, however the majority of it is Titanium.
Internal threading is important because external threads can tear and irritate tissue every time they go in or out of your piercing and can dramatically increase chances of scarring. Also, external threads collect body fluid that can cause infection. So we use either a snap-in press fit style of jewelry or internally threaded jewelry with counter bored threading to ensure the jewelry is comfortable during insertion.
The Borosillicate or Quartz Glass that we use comes from Glasswear Studios and they guarantee their glass as lead-free. Erika has had clients successfully heal piercings with Borosillicate or Quartz Glass.
